Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom brings players a new chapter of Zelda and Link’s saga to protect Hyrule. In addition, the game introduced four new abilities to help Link on his journey. One of the skills that became a particular hit is Ultrahand, which can help Link defeat enemies or solve puzzles. The popularity of the new mechanic has been seen with Zelda players making very creative builds using the game’s system to its fullest potential.
Reddit user LunisequiouS shared the video reimagining Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as Mario Kart. The idea is part of a project called Hyrule Grand Prix, a challenge in which Tears of the Kingdom players can build vehicles to compete on community-created tracks. Inspired by the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC, there are six “wave 1” tracks, such as the Hateno Hybrid Circuit, a track where players can compete using only land-water hybrid vehicles. Zelda players can head over to the Hyrule Grand Prix subreddit and sign up if they want to participate by competing or submitting a track. The subreddit brings more information related to the project, such as the leaderboard, the characteristics of each course, and the rules for players to participate in, such as allowed vehicles and armor.
According to the Hyrule Grand Prix creators, this is just the beginning of the project, which will periodically receive new tracks for players to compete in. The Hyrule Grand Prix creators also promised brand-new categories of races, but they didn’t give more details. Zelda players have been having a great time with the new mechanics introduced in Tears of the Kingdom, with vehicles being a favorite theme for the community. The result has been the creation of jet skis, rechargeable electric cars, and mechs. Zelda players have been so creative that they’ve even built helicopters in Tears of the Kingdom.
The introduction of new abilities in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was a clever move by Nintendo for two reasons. First, to diversify the gameplay by giving Link new ways to travel Hyrule and face enemies. Second, these new abilities have greatly inspired the creativity of Zelda players, providing a slew of fun experiences in Tears of the Kingdom.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
