World of Warcraft players who supported Sylvanas during Battle for Azeroth got a special quest during the Forsaken Heritage armor storyline. This touching scene was added in World of Warcraft Patch 10.1.7, Fury Incarnate, and is a must-see for any fans of the Dark Lady.
Patch 10.1.7 recently went live in World of Warcraft. Though it is not a major patch like the recently-revealed Dragonflight Patch 10.2, it contained an impressive amount of content, including new quality-of-life updates, a world event, and heritage armor quests for Forsaken and Night Elf characters.
The Forsaken Heritage Quest had a special surprise appearance of Sylvanas, one of World of Warcraft’s most controversial characters. Once players complete the Forsaken Heritage quest, Dori’thur, Tyrande’s owl companion who is currently traveling with Sylvanas in the Maw, appears, offering them a heartfelt message from the former Banshee Queen herself. She thanks the player for supporting her, entreats them to take pride in their place within the Horde, and assures them they were like family in some stellar voicelines delivered by the talented Patty Mattson.
This special quest is only available to players who sided with Sylvanas in Battle for Azeroth. Horde players have the opportunity to aid Saurfang’s rebellion during the story quests, or quietly subvert him and remain loyal to Sylvanas. The quests were ultimately resolved in the same way regardless, but loyalists got a handful of special scenes and dialogue based on their decision. Non-Forsaken loyalist characters can view an abridged version of Sylvanas’ message by finding Dori’thur in Orgrimmar.
Needless to say, Sylvanas fans were elated to find this special quest. The Banshee Queen is divisive, but she still has a huge fanbase and is one of the most popular characters in World of Warcraft. This emotional stinger to the Forsaken quest was exactly what these players were hoping for, and many are eager to see what role Sylvanas may play in the Forsaken’s future.
The Heritage Questlines from Patch 10.1.7 themselves are a mixed bag. The Night Elf one was a fine story on its own, but the consensus is that it was lacking for a Heritage quest. Meanwhile, the Forsaken story was a fun romp through the faction’s major themes, but it didn’t add anything new to the playable race. All things considered, these Heritage Quests were not the worst, but they lacked the quality of the stellar Orc Heritage Quest–largely considered one of the best quests in WoW’s history. Players will have to wait and see if any of the last few Heritage Questlines World of Warcraft has left can unseat the Orcs as the reigning champions.
World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
