Lies of P tosses players into the action early, arming them with a makeshift weapon and pushing them into a world filled with rampaging robots known as Puppets. Similar to other Soulslike titles, this Pinocchio-inspired macabre adventure is teeming with danger and the first few combat encounters will really test players. Those unfamiliar with the genre will likely see their first “death screen” early into their adventure.
Because of this, players should know how Lies of P handles its save systems. Thankfully, the release seems to save often, giving players peace of mind when progressing through this hard-as-nails adventure. That said, the save system is also a bit “bare bones,” which may be frustrating for those that are looking to have complete control over their choices.
How To Save In Lies Of P
All saving in Lies of P is handled automatically by the game’s auto-save feature. Players won’t actually have to do anything aside from starting the game for the first time. When auto-saving, a clock-like icon will show up in the top right-hand corner of the screen, denoting that the game is currently saving. Thankfully, players won’t have to worry about manually saving when making their way through some of the difficult areas found in Lies of P.
Because the title uses a Bonfire-style mechanic similar to Dark Souls with its Stargazer checkpoints, enemies will always respawn whenever players activate a Stargazer or find themselves returning to one. Upon death, players will always return to the last Stargazer visited. This helps with the overall save system, as players will be able to pick up items and allow for auto-saves even if they perish and return to a Stargazer. This ensures players won’t have to repeat difficult combat situations to snag special chests and items.
Can You Manually Save In Lies Of P?
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any way for players to manually save their game in Lies of P, which can make progression and decision-making a bit difficult at times. Although Lies of P features ten “Save Slots” they appear to only be used when players create a new game, which they can then load back and forth between. Players cannot create a new save file during a particular playthrough and cannot manually save at certain moments, all saving is handled by the auto-save system. This means players must deal with the decisions they make during pivotal story moments.
