The upcoming sixth season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will feature a crossover with the popular comic book anti-hero, Spawn. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is currently winding down its fifth season, which welcomed Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, 21 Savage, and gaming icon Lara Croft to the game as playable operators.

It seems commonplace these days for nearly every new season of Call of Duty to feature crossovers with other properties or celebrities. This pattern picked up with 2020’s Black Ops Cold War, which saw a slew of 80s action heroes like Rambo, John McClane, and Judge Dredd enter the fray. Call of Duty: Vanguard featured its fair share of collabs as well with Godzilla and Terminator. This year, Modern Warfare 2 kicked the crossovers into overdrive as it brought in Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir from The Boys, Tomb Raider‘s Lara Croft, and more.

Now, as Modern Warfare 2‘s sixth season approaches, it looks like there’s at least one more crossover on the way. On Twitter, CharlieIntel pointed to a leaked piece of key art for the upcoming Season 6 of Call of Duty which features Image Comics’ popular anti-hero Spawn. The most recent appearance Spawn has made in a major video game is in 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11 as a DLC character. While he fit in really well in that universe, he seems like a strange choice for Call of Duty.

Since pretty much every playable operator in Call of Duty is only available to purchase as part of bundles, fans of Spawn are likely to be excited to see what his weapon blueprints and other bundled items will look like. Suffice it to say, his collection of items will likely feature lots of green smoke elements and perhaps even some stylish spikes and chains. It’ll also be interesting to see who will voice the iconic anti-hero. Legendary actor Keith David seems to be the best candidate, as he was the original voice actor in Spawn’s late 90s TV show and even returned to voice the character in Mortal Kombat 11.

Season 6 will be Modern Warfare 2’s final season before the launch of Modern Warfare 3 in November. As such, Spawn would likely be the last Call of Duty crossover for a while, as the franchise typically doesn’t begin doing collabs for its freshly released titles until Season 1 or 2 the following year. More info about Spawn’s arrival in Modern Warfare 2 is sure to come soon as Call of Duty begins unveiling Season 6 in the coming weeks.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
