The Big Picture

- Quan had the opportunity to connect with his Indiana Jones family during the award season and approached Kathleen Kennedy, the head of Lucasfilm, expressing his wish to join the Star Wars universe.
- Quan wants to play a variety of different characters and is grateful to be part of the Disney family, having already been part of Indiana Jones and the MCU as Ouroboros in Loki.
Ke Huy Quan ticked off another massive franchise from his to-do list following his acclaimed turn as Ouroboros in the magnificent second season of the Disney+ series, Loki, but he’s not finished yet. Already part of another Disney series in Indiana Jones, as a child actor, Quan is eyeing up a role in Disney’s other big fish. Speaking with Collider’s Therese Lacson, Quan admitted he was absolutely overjoyed to be part of the MCU having admired it as a fan for a long time, but having reunited with his Indiana Jones family while campaigning for his Academy Award-winning performance as Waymond in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, he took the chance to befriend the big decision maker at Lucasfilm, the studio that has another major franchise under the Disney umbrella — Star Wars.
“I love the MCU. You know, I was able to connect with my Indiana Jones family during the award season. And, as you know, Kathleen Kennedy was the producer,” explained Quan. “And she’s the head of Lucasfilm now. I did go up to her and I said, ‘Kathy, I would love to join the Star Wars family.’ That’s another wish list of mine. But honestly, I’ve been very lucky. I’ve been very lucky.”
This past Halloween, I was able to see a fan — it was a family of four, and they went on Halloween as Short Round, Data [his character from The Goonies], Waymond, and Ouroboros. I saw that picture, and it warmed my heart. I’m so happy when it resonates when the characters that I play resonate with the audience. So, who knows? I mean, you know, I haven’t been at this for a long time, even though I’ve been in the business for a long time. But I feel like this time around, I’m quite new to this. So I want to be able to play a lot of different characters. And hopefully, you know, yeah.”
What Does Ke Huy Quan Want to Film Next?
Adding that Disney was, in his eyes, a “family”, Quan expressed his joy that he was part of that group from a very young age, and would continue to be so as long as his performances would be remembered. But that didn’t stop him from trying his hardest to join the biggest and most famous film franchise in movie history. He said:
“I was shameless when I saw Kathy! I went up to give her a big hug. And I said, “Kathy, Kathy, please put me in the Star Wars universe!” And what’s so great about it, if you think about it, it’s all under the Disney family, you know? So, I was lucky to be Short Round, which is also Disney. And, now MCU, and, you know, I want to stay in the family. It’s great.”
