In Baldur’s Gate 3, during a visit to Philgrave’s Mansion in Act 3, players must decide whether to side with Mystic Carrion or help his servant Thrumbo. In this guide, players will learn about each choice’s consequences and decide whether to help Thrumbo in Baldur’s Gate 3.
The first visit to Philgrave’s Mansion will occur as part of the Free the Artist quest, in which players will speak to Mystic Carrion to obtain the Torch of Revocation. This will be possible if the hero brings the body of his zombie servant Thrumbo to Mystic Carrion.
Thrumbo Location in Baldur’s Gate 3
After speaking with Mystic Carrion, players will need to find his servant. It won’t take long to find Thrumbo, as he is hiding in one of the houses near Philgrave’s Mansion. For this, follow the instructions below:
- Start looking for Thrumbo in the northeast of the Lower City at coordinates X:59, Y-119.
- Find the house near the pier and go up the stairs to enter the building.
- Interact with the wardrobe, and Thrumbo will fall out of it.
BG3: Should You Help Thrumbo?
When speaking with Thrumbo, fans will hear about the terrible things Mystic Carrion has done. Next, players must decide what they want to do next: help Thrumbo kill Mystic Carrion or side with the evil tyrant.
Help Thrumbo and Kill Mystic Carrion
After the dialog option, “That’s horrible. All right, I’ll help you. What can I do?” Thrumbo will tell the team about the secret lairs where they can find the secrets that Mystic Carrion is hiding.
After exploring Mystic Carrion’s Ancient Lair, players will destroy the evil mummy’s body parts, but Mystic Carrion’s heart is in Thrumbo’s body, and players must get it, as the tyrant has lost his powers. After returning to the house where the servant is hiding, ask him to give the heart, then go to Philgrave’s Mansion and start a fight with Mystic Carrion. After defeating Mystic Carrion, players can loot his body, and this is the reward they will receive:
- The Veil of the Morning
- Scroll of Eyebite
- Amour of the Sporekeeper
In addition to Mystic Carrion’s body, fans can also loot the entire mansion, which contains the following items:
- Torch of Revocation
- Acquisitions Record
- Behir Scales
If players decide to help Mystic Carrion and kill Thrumbo, the quest will end much faster. After the group brings the mummy the body of his servant, he will reward them with the Torch of Revocation and gold. In this case, players will lose the opportunity to get the powerful Crypt Lord Ring and many other items from his personal shop. Basically, killing Thrumbo is not the best choice because, in this case, the group will not receive valuable items, and the tyrant who commits atrocities will continue to live.
