Tamashii Nations have just revealed their stunning life-sized replica of the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda. Appearing in their premium Proplica range, fans of The Legend of Zelda series will soon be able to get their hands on one of the most iconic weapons in gaming history.
The Sacred Sword, The Sword of Resurrection, The Sword that Seals the Darkness; these are but a few of the many names of the divine blade wielded by Link in his epoch-spanning battle to save Hyrule from the evil Ganon. From its first appearance in 1991’s The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past to its latest in Tears of the Kingdom – one of the most nominated games at The Game Awards 2023 – the Master Sword has become almost as synonymous with the series as Zelda herself. Fans will soon be able to acquire a stunning replica for their own homes.
The exquisite new reproduction of the Master Sword was revealed at the Tamashii Nations 2023 event in Tokyo, with the prototype blade thrust into a stone plinth. As seen in the images uploaded by @Genki_JPN, the sword itself is modeled after the version of the Master Sword depicted in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. However, it is not yet known whether the sword will be sold along with its display base or only as a standalone item.
Tamashii Nations – Bandai Namco’s creators of figurines and merchandise – have revealed that their Master Sword replica will feature as part of its Proplica range. Proplica produces premium full-size collector’s pieces from games, shows, and anime such as Demon Slayer and Sailor Moon. Their announcement of this official real-world Master Sword has come at the perfect time, only days after Nintendo revealed that a live-action Legend of Zelda movie is already in the works.
Aside from the replica’s stunning design, Zelda fans may be in for an additional treat, as many Proplica replicas come complete with lighting and sound effects. These immersive effects would be especially fitting as Skyward Sword showed that Link’s glowing blade is inhabited by a humanoid spirit called Fi, a servant of the goddess Hylia who often appears to aid Link in his quest against Ganon.
Tamashii Nations have not yet announced the price of the replica, nor when it will be on sale. However, the prices of other Proplica swords vary from around the equivalent of $80-$180 on their website, so hopefully, the Master Sword won’t cost too much for those interested in adding it to their collections. Until these details are announced, there are still plenty more Zelda-themed accessories for eager fans to pick up.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to the beloved open-world adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This installment once again sees Link and Zelda battling to protect Hyrule from falling to Ganondorf. This new adventure takes place in the same land of Hyrule as Breath of the Wild but sees something called the Upheaval, which allows link to travel to Sky Islands, as well as deep into the Depths beneath Hyrule. Players can use special abilities to fuse together weapons, and build items to help them progress through the release.
