The new Follower Dungeons feature in World of Warcraft Patch 10.2.5 brings back some popular characters from the Exile’s Reach starting experience. This new feature lets players team up with the World of Warcraft NPCs that helped them get started in dungeons throughout Dragonflight.
World of Warcraft recently revealed Patch 10.2.5, Seeds of Renewal. Though the patch introduces a lot of interesting content and new features, the new Follower Dungeons coming to World of Warcraft caught the eyes of many. Using this new system, players can enter the eight dungeons of Dragonflight in their normal versions alone or in a group, using AI followers to fill in the missing roles in their party.
This new feature is now available to try out on the Patch 10.2.5 Public Test Realm, and players that have tried it out, such as WoW content creator MrGM, noticed some familiar faces joining their party. Some of the NPCs from Exile’s Reach–the streamlined starting experience introduced during Shadowlands–are the ones who join players in these instances. Characters from both World of Warcraft factions’ versions of Exile’s Reach appear in the party, and occasionally even comment on the bosses and environments within the dungeon.

Some of these NPCs originally helped players complete the mini-dungeon at the end of Exile’s Reach in World of Warcraft, but now, they will be able to join them in all of Dragonflight’s normal dungeons. This new system is a great way to learn instances and rotations, as the NPCs will teach players how to avoid damage, and call out clues on how to manage mechanics while not simply completing the dungeon for them. The NPCs can even lead the way through the dungeon for them, or swap composition if the player changes specializations.
Most players agree Follower Dungeons looks like a fantastic new feature. If a way for players to try out new roles and learn new dungeons was not reason enough, teaming up with the charming cast from Exile’s Reach won them over, and many hope other NPCs from the starting experience are added later as well. However, others believe World of Warcraft is just getting started, and hope they can eventually fill out their party with major lore characters like Jaina Proudmoore, Anduin Wrynn, and Thrall–or perhaps even their own alts via the Warband system in The War Within.
