- Patrick Schwarzenegger could potentially portray Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern Corps movies and TV show.
- The DC Universe is investing a lot in the Green Lantern realm, with plans to explore untapped lore.
- The Lanterns TV show will feature Hal Jordan and John Stewart and will have a True Detective influence, interconnecting with other DC Universe projects.
Patrick Schwarzenegger gets imagined as Hal Jordan for Lanterns in new DC Universe fan art. Once Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters, it will be the official end to the DCEU franchise, in order to allow James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe to finally come to life. While Superman: Legacy will be a fresh start for the Man of Steel, DC Studios have plenty of Justice League heroes planned to show up on the big and small screens.
One of the most exciting mythologies that will be explored through DC Universe movies and TV shows is the Green Lantern Corps, marking the first time since 2011 that the Emerald Knights were depicted on the big screen. For Hal Jordan, Youssef Defenshi shared artwork of what Patrick Schwarzenegger could potentially look like as one of the most famous members of the Green Lantern Corps.
Schwarzenegger is no stranger to the superhero and comic book genre, having played Luke Riordan, a.k.a. Golden Boy, in The Boys spinoff series, Gen V. As of right now, it is not known what age-range is being looked for when it comes to Hal in the DC Universe.
What Is Going On With The Green Lanterns In James Gunn’s DC Universe?
It appears the DC Universe will be investing a lot into the Green Lantern realm over the next few years – which is a logical move, as there is a lot of lore to delve into that prior DC movies have left relatively untouched. One of the confirmed Superman: Legacy cast members is Nathan Fillion, who is coming onboard as Guy Gardner, another famous Emerald Knight from the comics. This will be the first time Guy has ever been featured in a DC movie, although Gunn has yet to reveal details about this Green Lantern’s story in Superman: Legacy.
However, Max will be the home destination for the Green Lantern TV show, Lanterns, which was one of the initial Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters” projects that got announced back in January. Lanterns will feature Hal and John Stewart, while reportedly having a True Detectives influence. The only story details Gunn and Safran revealed earlier in 2023 is that Lanterns will explore “an ancient horror” which will interconnect across DC Universe movies and TV shows.
Despite being cast as Guy Gardner for Superman: Legacy, it hasn’t been announced whether Fillion will be on Lanterns.
Even though the SAG-AFTRA strike has come to an end, Lanterns have yet to announce a creative team, meaning it may take a while before they start the casting search for Hal and John. After all the creative overhaul with Greg Berlanti’s original Green Lantern TV show for Max, it will be intriguing to see what becomes of Lanterns once they get further into production. But for now, the world will have to wait and see who ends up getting tapped to bring Hal and John to life on Lanterns in the DC Universe.
