The relatively new first-person shooter Immortals of Aveum received a huge discount not even four months after it was released. While this steep markdown only lasted for a brief period of time, the game is still currently on sale and will provide those interested in a unique spell-based experience lots of value.
Released last August 22, Immortals of Aveum distinguished itself by being the first AAA game to really utilize new technologies that were introduced in Unreal Engine 5 like Nanite, Lumen, and Niagara, among others. While considered by some to be the true debut of the latest iteration of Epic Games’ engine and offering a fresh spell-based action experience, Immortals of Aveum failed to attract a large player base and sold poorly.
Offering surprising twists on familiar features of FPS games, Ascendant Studios’ Immortals of Aveum has some things it can teach standard shooters.
Immortals of Aveum recently received a massive price cut on Microsoft’s online game store, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers in the U.S. being given the opportunity to grab the game’s Deluxe Edition for just $7.99 down from the usual $79.99. This incredible deal is no longer available, but Immortals of Aveum‘s Deluxe Edition is still on sale for $31.99 as of writing. While this new sale price is not as much of a steal, it still offers a great value for gamers interested in a fresh first-person experience, as Immortals of Aveum features magic-based gameplay that many will find unique. Fantasy fans will surely enjoy the game’s narrative and setting as well.
Immortals of Aveum was the debut title of Ascendant Studios, the California-based developer that was founded by former Dead Space creative director Bret Robbins and other ex-Electronic Arts industry veterans back in 2018. Immortals of Aveum was announced at the 2022 Game Awards and it was ultimately published by Electronic Arts under its EA Originals program.
As a result of Immortals of Aveum‘s poor sales performance, Ascendant Studios had to lay off nearly half of its team in September. Robbins, the company’s CEO, did assure players that the title would still receive support. In addition, he even claimed that the original IP could see some attention in the future.
It’s unclear just how long Ascendant Studios’ support for Immortals of Aveum will last, but the most recent major game update, the Echollector Update, showed that the developer was ready to rise and meet the expectations of its audience. Also known as update 22.214.171.124, Immortals of Aveum‘s Echollector Update introduced new playable content and gear. It also brought other things like performance improvements and a New Game Plus mode.
